Born in the Gulbarga district in Dewal Ghanagapur, Karnataka, Ashok completed his art education from the Ideal Fine Art College, Bangalore University, and received a master’s degree in Visual Art from the Kannada University, Hampi. Having presented at several art shows held across the country, he is also the participant of many art exhibitions and art camps, including the Bombay Art Society and Tilak Exhibition, Pune (2012), and the painting camp organised by the Archaeological Survey of India, Hampi (2003). A winner of the District Kannada Rajyotsav Award (2012), Ashok now works as an art lecturer at the Ravindra Kala Niketan, Tumkur.
