Description

This painting portrays the age old Hindu tradition of planting a Tulsi in the central courtyard of the house. Tulsi is the symbol of well-being and the lamp under it is the symbol of light and brightness that it spreads across the house. Planting it in the center allowed it to spread the well-being across all corners of the house. However, the urban cities have the limitation to plant it in the center of the house and hence these days Tulsi lies in a small corner of the house. The artist wants to portray that along with its center space, the Tulsi has lost its spiritual relevance amongst the urban crowd.
